The Parent Letter in the SuccessEd RTI/MTSS application communicates important information about a student’s intervention plan to parents or guardians. The letter pulls information directly from the student’s RTI/MTSS plan, including accommodations, intervention strategies, progress reporting details, and district-specific notes.
This article explains what information appears on the RTI/MTSS parent letter and provides troubleshooting tips if the parent letter appears blank, does not display interventions correctly, or shows an incorrect meeting date.
Use the following tips to create parent letters in the SuccessEd RTI/MTSS application.
What areas of the RTI/MTSS plan are included in the parent letter?
- Classroom Accommodations (if any have been selected in the plan)
- State Testing Accommodations (if any have been selected in the plan)
- The intervention or strategy the student will receive for the identified skill area(s). This includes:
- Frequency and Duration of the intervention
- Start Date of the intervention
- End Date of the intervention
- Targeted Goal developed by the RTI/MTSS committee
- How frequently progress will be reported to the parent
- Any information entered into the “District-specific/Additional Information” field appears in the parent letter text box.
What if my parent letter is blank?
- Ensure the student has a Tier Status of "Active," selected at the bottom of the RTI/MTSS plan.
- Make sure the Frequency of Progress Reporting has been selected on the RTI/MTSS plan.
- Confirm that at least one parent or guardian has been selected on the RTI/MTSS plan.
- Verify that the campus contact for parent questions has been populated.
What if the intervention or strategy does not appear on the parent letter?
- For the intervention chart to appear on the parent letter, every field must be completed. Required fields include Skill Area, Strategy, Frequency, Duration, Start Date, End Date, and Goal. If any field is left blank, the chart will not appear on the parent letter.
- When printing the parent letter, the student must have an active goal. If the goal’s end date has already passed, the system will not display the intervention chart.
Why does the incorrect date print on my parent letter?
The correct RTI/MTSS meeting date will appear on the parent letter only after the Tier plan is locked.
If the plan remains in draft status, the parent letter displays the date the letter is printed instead of the meeting date.
For example, if a Tier 2 plan was completed in April but remained in draft status and the parent letter is printed in June, the parent letter will display the June date instead of the April meeting date.
