1. Customizing the Related Services Shared List
- "Related Services" is a district-customizable list, so services can easily be added or removed from your drop-down list by your "District Administrator."
- There are options included in the "Related Services" drop-down that trigger a value of "1" for the corresponding data element on the "PEIMS 163 Record." Your "District Administrator" will need to ensure that at least one of these options remains in the shared list in order for the correct PEIMS indicator(s) to be triggered.
2. Using the Drop-Downs in the Service Field
- When entering a service into the "Related Services Schedule," always use the drop-downs. Do not type novel information in this field or alter the drop-down in any way.
- Some services included in the drop-drown trigger a corresponding data element on the "PEIMS 163 Record." Altering these selections will result in the service not being indicated on the "PEIMS 163 Record."
- The "Related Services by Services" report can be run to see a list of students by "Related Service." Drop-down selections must be used in order for the "Related Service" to be included in this report.
3. Using "Out of School" as Your Service Type
Some "Related Services," such as "Transportation" or "Parent Training," may occur outside of the school day. For these instances, selecting Out of School as your "Service Type" allows you to capture the service without assigning minutes or addressing the "Removed From" field.
4. When Related Services Indicators are Not Triggered on the PEIMS 163 Report
- Ensure that the "Service" drop-down has not been altered in any way.
- Consult the "PEIMS 163 Data Sources" to ensure that your "Service" drop-down selection is one that triggers the corresponding data element on the "PEIMS 163 Record."
